McFly - Lost Alone
Tom's crisp vocals and skillful guitar playing, Danny's charismatic performance, Dougie's bass grooves, and Harry's drumming expertise were a testament to their musical prowess.
WOW, McFly were incredible last night!
On Wednesday 25th October McFly travelled down to our lovely city of Norwich to perform an intimate gig at the LCR. The demand was huge for this gig, McFly have added a second date to Norwich and are now coming back to Norwich on Thursday 2nd November.
I was really looking forward to this performance as I am a huge McFly fan, but I do have to say that the LCR was incredibly packed with people, and as I am only 5ft 2 I couldn’t see much throughout the whole night. The venue seemed overcrowded and unbelievably hot saying it was only 9°C outside.
The night started with doors opening at 7:30pm, LostAlone were the support act who kicked the night off with a BANG! I hadn’t heard of LostAlone, but they are a British rock band from Derby and formed in 2005. The band consists of Steven Battelle, Alan Williamson, and Mark Gibson. Over the years LostAlone have released four studio albums. Steven is an established songwriter and has worked with many artists, they have recently helped co-write Mcfly's Power To Play album which entered the UK charts at number 2.
Mcfly started at 9:00pm exactly, with ‘Where did all the guitars go?’. The crowd was already going crazy for the guys! One of the band's strengths is their ability to evolve and adapt their sound over the years. From their early hits like "Five Colours in Her Hair" to their more recent tracks, McFly has shown growth and maturity in their songwriting. The crowd consisted of all ages, from teens, to 40+, new fans were there as well as the fans from the 2000s.
The setlist was a perfect blend of their classic hits and newer tracks, ensuring that both longtime fans and newcomers were treated to a night of musical delight. What truly sets McFly apart is their remarkable stage presence and chemistry. Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd clearly have an unbreakable bond that translates into an outstanding live performance. They engaged with the crowd, cracked jokes, and shared personal stories, creating a unique connection with their fans.
The band's musicianship was on full display as well. Tom's crisp vocals and skillful guitar playing, Danny's charismatic performance, Dougie's bass grooves, and Harry's drumming expertise were a testament to their musical prowess. Each member also showcased their individual talents with moments of solo brilliance.
The visual effects and stage production were nothing short of spectacular, enhancing the overall experience. The light show behind them complemented the music perfectly, making it a multi-sensory delight. The gig reached its peak with the audience singing along to classics like "Five Colours in Her Hair" and "Obviously." The encore was a true highlight, leaving everyone wanting more as McFly bid farewell with a memorable performance.
Unfortunately, both McFly shows in Norwich are sold out. But there are tickets still available for other locations if you're willing to travel.

Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand
There was very little messing about, charging through song after song, so that when the band departed after an hour, having knocked seven bells out of the drumkit, it felt like only half that time had passed.

Mogwai
Mogwai
I entered the LCR ready and willing to worship at the altar of their magnificence. Sadly, it didn't quite work out that way. At times this felt less about composition and more akin to ritual.
