Flaming Galah's
Both pies were delicious and obviously homemade, incomparable to anything you could buy at a shop or take away.

Flaming Galah celebrated their 7th birthday on Wednesday 12th August and luckily Tyler and I were there to celebrate with them. Despite being one of the hottest days of the year, we walked down to Flaming Galah to sample some pies.
It is clear from when you arrive at the door of Flaming Galah that they do not follow the rules. I arrived at 4pm – supposedly their closing time, it seemed the shop had been busy all day and therefore closing was pushed back so the pies could be sold until they were clean out.
These pies are all handmade, fresh and different to your average pie. The menu of pie fillings ranges from Thai curries to Italian and Greek themes. You can choose to have your pie as a ‘Floater’ on minted pea soup topped with tomato sauce (honestly wish I had tried this) or more standard with gravy, mash and/or mushy peas. One other thing that is worth noting is the offer of a family sized/ Birthday & celebration pies – again something I really should have gone for after trying a normal person sized pie.

I went for The Vegan Tucker with peas and gravy (£6.00), this certainly has a kick to it, the spice factor was high, although my spice tolerance for foods is low. I 10/10 would eat again and recommend to a friend. There were so many vegetables, sweet potato, chillies, lentils, onion and spinach and it was filled with them. The vegan pastry was amazing too. This was the only vegan option on the menu, it would be great to see some more vegan options in the future.

Tyler had The Pom with mash and gravy (£6.00), this was filled with proper lumps of meat and he described it as ‘garlicy, chickeny, goodness’, which can only be a good thing. Both pies were delicious and obviously homemade, incomparable to anything you could buy at a shop or take away.
Overall I would give the quality of the food a 10/10, the menu would be a 7/10, it would be good to see some more vegan options and of course some beers or other drinks on there.
