Nana's Surprise Birthday Party

Nana's Surprise Birthday Party… I was greeted in with a glass of sherry and the night took off like a turbo-powered mobility scooter.

Nana's Surprise Birthday Party

I was invited to Nana’s Surprise Birthday Party and I want an invite to her surprise fish’n’chip supper next Tuesday, because I am so sure it would be bloomin’ marvellous.

Up the windy steps at the back of The Hog In Armour was Nana G and Nana B’s world. I was greeted with a glass of sherry and the night took off like a turbo-powered mobility scooter. On the tin, the night was described as ‘immersive theatre’, which meant the night consisted of five minutes of pant-wettingly funny stage time, fifteen minutes dance and drinking time, repeated throughout the night.

The hook of the night came when the nanas let loose after swiping a taste of their award-winning cherry jam… queue dance routine, rap, gabba jigsaw, OAP supermarket sweep and stocking-limbo.

Nana’s // nightclub // cabaret… maybe it’s the clash of it all that made it so charming and simply hilarious. All the guests went to town with the inner-OAP dress code, but remembered to stick on their dancing slippers.Theatre of Escapades wanted to put a little festival inside of a Norwich venue so partygoers could have a truly wonderful time. They definitely succeeded, and I hope they will come back soon. Happy birthday Nana - and thanks for the cherry jam!
