What's Your Number - The Sex Survey
Twentieth Century Fox make us wonder, when thinking about partners, what's your number?!
It's probably one of the most flexible numbers ever used. Defying the rigid mathematical practise of numbers not really bending, depending on what social circle we're in, we'll make the answer to the question, 'How many sexual partners have you had?', fit whatever image we're trying to portray.
If it's Sunday lunch round the table with your granny, the subject - unspoken - would surely reveal the saintly number, '0 Granny - humpy bumpy is the devil's work'. With our mates, the truth, more or less, gets revealed. '20... only me? 10 then... 5?!'
Marking the release on DVD and Blu-Ray of Twentieth Century Fox's 'What's Your Number', they've teemed up with My Single Friend to poll a bunch of frisky folk on their own carnal calculations...
The film, starring Anna Faris, tells the story of a woman who looks back at the past twenty men she's had relationships with and wonders if one of them might be her one true love.
Below are the results of the survey, which reveals that overall guys are not too fussed about dating numbers, whereas it is girls themselves who fear that their own dating number is too high!
When asked ‘Would you prefer the number of dates you have been on to be lower?’ (respondents 14,308) of those that said Yes, 81% were women with the No quotient being 73% male.
Again when asked 'Would someone who’s been on a large number of dates put you off?' (respondents 9,612) 67% of the No category was male whereas 72% of the Yes category was female.
For the question ‘How many dates is a reasonable amount for a partner to have been on?’ (respondents 12,291) the top category was between 20-30 dates which scored 31% overall. Females were much harder again in this section though with a lot stating 1-2 dates or 3-5 dates are being more reasonable.
And that’s not all. Statistics collected in 23 countries from around the world revealed some saucy secrets:
• The average number of partners (sexual) around the world is 12
• The average number of partners around the world for men is 15 – with 14 being the average in the UK
• The average number of partners around the world for women is 8 – with 8 being the average in the UK
• Danish women are the most promiscuous in the world with an average of 16 partners (out of the 23 countries polled)
• When asked which country they thought would have the highest number of partners – most countries assumed they were having more sex than anyone else!
What’s Your Number? is out on Blu-ray and DVD on 30 January 2012 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment

I’ve never seen a movie that can jump between comedy and grounded realism with such ease and respect. ..... There is real, genuine importance in this movie. Even after becoming properly engrossed in these characters and the themes present in the movie, I keep on thinking that there are deeper meanings that will register with me on a rewatch.

I know I've said it before, but it can't be understated how rare it is to see a brave new fledgling sitcom appear - never mind locally! I have to mention that the soundtrack to the episode was entirely original, which is unbelievably impressive for a project such as this. The leaflet I was given prior to the screening said that the pilot promised to be ‘bold, vibrant and entertaining’ - and that's absolutely what it is. That sums it up pretty well. There's a lot to be proud of here. I can't wait to say ‘I knew them when' years down the line.
