Secret Garden Party 2014 Gets Some Added Soul

As ‘the Norfolk festival guide for Dummies’ already proved last week: line-upannouncement time has arrived! Festival organisers are literally spitting out great names at the moment, so you can imagine we weren’t that surprised when we stumbled upon an email from the Secret Garden Party cartel. We were surprised when we opened it up, however. Cambridgeshire’s major festival stuns its audience again with some great names. A press release also mentions a new Soulfire restaurant and an evening with Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. It seems like the party is going to inject its festival with even more soul than ever.

Foxes, Maya Jane Coles, Sub Focus DJ Set + ID. Three totally different bands, with each their own specific genre. The new additions to SGP’s colourful line-up prove that the festival doesn’t aim at one particular audience. They just want to serve them bits of everything, which leads to a very appealing line-up where everyone will find their treat. Also new on the bill are MØ and Kwabs, both of them ready to invade the stage of the festival and dominate the memories of the audience by the time they go back home.

Of course Martha Reeves and the Vandellas ring a bell. They should. This soul monument consists nowadays of the three beautiful voices of Martha Reeves, with her sisters Lois and Delphine in tow. The divas will stop by the festival to give the audience one hell of a night to remember. Perhaps you can combine it with a meal out of the new Soulfire Restaurant on the festival ground, who knows? You can never have enough soul.

Other new names to complement the established are Rosie Lowe, Wolf Alice, Years and Years and Gorgon City. More supporting acts than the names mentioned above, yes, but a beautiful addition to a beautiful festival. And there’s even more. In their press release, they’re mentioning another 40 bands that will be playing on the festival next July. Most famous between them are perhaps The Amazing Snakeheads, Le Galaxie, Denai Moore and Bipolar Sunshine.

Check the entire list at www.secretgardenparty.com. It’s not up there at the moment of writing, but the secret will surely be out soon!
