Films for December/January

6th Dec – The Disaster Artist

The story of how “The Room”, one of the most notoriously bad films ever made, got, er, ever made. James Franco directs and stars as Tommy Wiseau, the man who proved that ambition need not be limited by talent. Both arresting and funny, this gets “Hi Mark”s in my book.

9th Dec - The Room

Look up. Read that. That’s about this. See this and that. This is showing at Cinema City for one night though, so book this first.

20th Dec – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Sequel to the 1995 jungle-based adventure, only this time instead of a board game that brings the jungle to your home, four teenagers find a video games console that transports them into the game. Apparently there’s a bonus level where the Rock sees how many times he can make Robin Williams spin in his grave in one minute.

1st Jan – The Greatest Showman

Hugh Jackman stars as P.T Barnum in this song-and-dance spectacle based on the birth of show business, and the man who created it from nothing except his hopes and dreams. And other people’s talent. Some things never change. Also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Michelle Williams.
