CMAT
The entire show encapsulated a feeling of pure, relentless, unadulterated joy that is surprisingly rare in many live performances.
With chart topping album Euro Country, a broadly acclaimed Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury, and even a viral TikTok dance routine, everyone's favourite Irish alt popstar CMAT has taken the world by storm over the past year. Ever since she dared to bare her buttocks at The Brit Awards, she has wooed fans with her witty intellectual penmanship.
She returned to Norwich on her Autumn tour, having previously headlined The Arts Centre, and even having appeared at the now closed Karma Kafe at Wild Paths 2021.
Taking her adoring fans by surprise, she sprung up in the crowd carried by a member of her crew on his shoulders like a regal empress singing the silver toned “Janis Joplining”
The tongue in cheek smash hit “The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station” followed prompting fans to bop along to it's infectious beat.
CMAT commanded the room with her phenomenal Irish charm. Between songs she exchanged banter with fans chatting about supposed second cousins, and cracking jokes with her band mates (the “Very Sexy CMAT Band”).
The hip swinging and toe tapping continued with perky pop moments in “Have Fun!”, and the formiddable communal dance routine moment with the soaring “Take a Sexy Picture Of Me”.
As well as the chaotic vibrancy of upbeat moments, the set wasn't short of contemplative folk shantys like “2 Wrecked 2 Care” as a callback to her debut album.
A stand out moment came with an astounding duet of “Where Are Your Kids Tonight?” with her keyboardist Colm Conlan filling in for John Grant's verses. Colm’s dulcet Irish accent melted through the room like brandy butter, pairing perfectly with CMAT. They danced around the stage like an iconic pop duo commanding, the upmost attention of everyone in the room.
Closer “Running/Planning” was met with the most eruptive response of the night. Followed by a much welcomed encore of anthemic title track “ EURO COUNTRY”, the swanky jauntiness of “I Wanna Be A Cowboy, Baby!” and the sonically rich “Stay For Something”.
The entire show encapsulated a feeling of pure, relentless, unadulterated joy that is surprisingly rare in many live performances. CMAT has the most wonderful personality that you can't help but be won over by, paired with unrelenting talent of her and her band. It felt a huge privilege to witness her craft in an intimate venue, as she's only destined to grow exponentially as her career progresses. You don't want to miss the chance to see her live.

Franz Ferdinand
There was very little messing about, charging through song after song, so that when the band departed after an hour, having knocked seven bells out of the drumkit, it felt like only half that time had passed.

Declan Mckenna
It’s refreshing that Declan always sets out to make a statement with his music, and it resonates so strongly with young people. He has come so far since his debut single released at just 16, and I can only expect bigger things to come.
