About this event
Moving Art is a project investigating the relationship between movement and mark making and how each discipline informs the other. Using Matthew Bourne’s captivating production of The Red Shoes to stimulate ideas, you are invited to join community dance artists Abby Page and Xenoula Eleftheriades to explore movement, play, and the joy of getting messy. Using chalk and charcoal on paper, this session explores how movement leaves visual traces and how those traces can, in turn, inspire new movement.
This session is suitable for complete beginners through to professional dancers, these workshops have been enjoyed by participants ranging from young children to seasoned performers.
Through playful, accessible tasks, Abby and Xenoula support participants to discover movement that works comfortably for their own bodies. The workshops offer an experience that is a little out of the ordinary. By giving people the freedom to move and make marks on a large scale, the pressure to “get it right” dissolves—unlocking a sense of creative freedom and enabling the imagination to lead the way. Every workshop meets participants exactly where they are, regardless of experience or ability.
